MEET YOUR FACILITATOR

I am Danielle Palomares, an associate marriage and family trauma therapist at Sandoval Therapy in Pasadena, CA. I have always been passionate about deconstructing dominant narratives and assumptions, asking the proverbial why behind societal structural choices, lifestyles, values, and beliefs. As an attachment therapist, I believe most humans are wired for belonging, safety, and connection and most of my therapeutic work centers attachment injury & repair. I am currently enrolled at the Buehler Institute of Sexology, working on AASECT requirements to hone my work as a sex therapist, in addition to my foundation in trauma and attachment.

I am excited to carve out a much-needed therapeutic corner for folks exploring consensual non-monogamy to explore the ways that their relationship structure impacts their lives and find non-judgmental, affirming community.

This is a talk-therapy processing group. Each session will loosely center on a theme for the week, often influenced by the group members and collaboratively chosen. FAQs

⇢ Can I attend with a partner, metamour, or someone I know?

To ensure confidentiality and safety while avoiding conflicts of interest, we kindly request that only one person from your partnership or circle attends each session. Your friends, partners, metamours, and contacts are welcome to reach out to join a waiting list for an alternate group time.

⇢ Who is the ideal client for this group?

The ideal client for this group is involved in some form of consensual non-monogamous (CNM) or ethical non-monogamous (ENM) relationship. It is beneficial for clients to have some level of external support (such as a friend, partner, individual therapist, or other spaces) and prior experience in therapy. Since process groups can evoke emotional responses, having external resources and some readiness to engage in this work is important. Clients should also possess the ability to respect group boundaries, contribute to maintaining a safe environment, and share emotional space within the group.

⇢ Can I drop-in or is the group closed?

This will be a closed group that opens when a spot becomes available at the beginning of every month. Members can choose to stay as long as they’d like if they find value in the group dynamic and wish to continue their participation.

⇢ What’s the commitment & attendance policy?

We ask that clients who occupy a spot in the group commit to attending at least 80% of the sessions, which means attending at least five sessions every six weeks, and ten sessions every twelve weeks. We request a 3-month commitment to foster group cohesion, safety, and trust. Additionally, we require a 24-hour notice for cancellations to avoid incurring the full fee for the group session.

⇢ Do you plan to launch a virtual group?

If you are unable to attend our in-person group sessions in Pasadena but are interested in participating in a virtual group, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I intend to launch a virtual group in the future once there is sufficient interest, and I would be glad to add your name to the list.

⇢ What’s the policy around illness?

Clients are kindly asked to remain at home if they are feeling unwell. If clients are beyond the infectious period but still experiencing symptoms of infection (such as a lingering cough), we request that they wear a fitted mask during the group sessions for the safety and comfort of all participants.
